this just in...

professor (the one who's running for Congress) has petition to abolish electoral college. must find more info about this...

also, last night he had death threat. He thought about canceling class but said it wasn't fair to us lol But dude! That's scary! The FBI & Homeland Security have been notified.

This politics stuff is dangerous.

PS test was moved to October 2nd. This gives me time to get second book and speed read to get full caught up

There are 3 things I'd LOVE to have right now

1. a decent wireless connection
2. 320 GB external hard drive
3. $3K to pay on my bills

If I had those things right now, I'd be a very happy camper.

My cell phone bill wouldn't be late, my credit card would be paid off as well as my loan to the church and the rest of my dental work done.

I don't think I'm asking for too much right now.

And my birthday is like 8 days away so I think those 3 things would be pretty nice gifts.

I think it's time to finally let my dad print off whatever papers he needs to print. I'm taking my laptop with me to school tomorrow. I want to really work on my journal for my speech class. and with 6 hours of nothing to do, I should be able to get a decent amount done. I think I'm only a half a day behind.

My cousin...ASSOCIATE PRODUCER for CNN

My Aunt (who used to be my favorite, but isn't anymore) e-mailed this to my dad. I think it's so cool someone from my family is making it!

CNN Presents: Black in America aired July 23rd & 24th at 9 pm ET. I don't have cable, so I wouldn't have been able to see it even if I had known about it.

(CNN) -- Forty years after the death of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., CNN took an unprecedented look at the state of black America in "CNN Presents: Black in America. The success, struggle, pain and pride.

Here's the behind the scenes for that special. He says that he and some of his colleagues are interviewed. I haven't watched it yet, but I will shortly. The clip is on the right hand side of the page. It's 4 mins long and he's at roughly the 2:35 spot. When my aunt mentioned that he lost weight, wow. He lost A LOT of weight! If it weren't for his name being put up, I wouldn't have known! lol

And I also have my cousin's e-mail address. I'm debating on if I should e-mail him. I haven't seen him in YEARS and he's 22 and has a BA in Mass Communications from the University of Michigan. If I e-mail him, what the heck do I say?! LOL

The way I'm acting, you'd think I had the personal e-mail address for Cullen Jones *snickers*

3 more hours until class

I had the biggest taco salad I've had in a long time and I couldn't finish eating it. Now 3 hours later, heartburn city!

Tomorrow night is Ashanti at the Grove. I was to go, but it's at 8 pm and I have class the following morning and can't be up that late...and still have to take a bus & train back home.

I really wish I had my laptop right now. I think I'm just going to suck it up and carry it with me on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I have something to do. More than I have access to using the school's computers.

Oh damn! I just realized I missed the Forensics meeting. It's still going on, but I don't want to walk in on the tail end of the meeting. I'll have to see if I can remember next Tuesday.

So bored and cold right now. if I had a book I'd go outside and sit under a tree and read until I got too hot.

2 1/2 hours to go.

2 weeks to my birthday!

in roughly 2 weeks I'll be 26 and (for once) I'd like to do something fun with friends out here. For my last birthday I journeyed to Florida via Greyhound bus to see my brother, sister in law, nieces and go to a concert with a friend.

That was then though. I hadn't started classes so I was free to travel across the country. This year I'll be in school and not very keen on dropping everything to travel someplace. It's useless for me to plan anything because I never hear from anyone so this year I'd like to be surprised.

I'll be in school from 9 am to 12:30 pm and by the time I get home it'll be about 4 pm. I won't be going to my evening class.

My birthday's on a Tuesday and I'm not expecting to go out and paint the town pink, but I would like to see some friends...get some e-mails, cards, calls, text messages...stuff like that.

I'm never going to learn from my past mistakes

I'm so pissed at myself that I want to cry.

I'm hurt, upset, angry...just everything.

But all with myself.

For everything that I've done the last 2 weeks.

I swear it's 2005 all over again and I swore I wouldn't repeat that year (or any year after that) again!

I can't do this anymore. I can't trust myself anymore.

bye bye geology lab

I sat through the class and it turns out, I DID take the lab part of geology. I remembered everything we talked about (this from like 3 years ago!) and all the labs, so I told the instructor that I was dropping the class. Then I'm going to talk to my counselor and EXPLAIN (like I tried doing before) that I'd already taken the class at Cerritos and there the lecture and lab were together - on the same day in the same class. Lecture and lab were done at the same time.

Now...instead of 8 units, I'm taking 7 - lab was 1 unit.

I also have to message that guy who was supposed to send me the book and tell him he doesn't have to. Hopefully he hasn't. If so, I might sell it (if it has all the pages) or put it back up on the site to give to someone else.

So now Tuesday/Thursday I should be home by 3 or 4 pm and I can get a good night sleep those nights as well.

I have a -$20.00 balance since I dropped the class...I need to go to admissions and see what the deal with that is. I hope I don't owe them $$ for dropping the class after they've paid the fee waiver.

I can't think of anything else. It's noon, I'm hungry, so I'm going to go. Toodles!

P.S. YAY FOR 3 DAY WEEKENDS!!!!!!

wow, I got here early!

I left home at 6:30 and the next thing I knew it was 10 minutes to 8 am and I was walking across the campus parking lot!

My class isn't until 9:30 am though. Yay for an hour and a half of "free time".

I spent about 15 minutes or so, looking for where my Geology lab class was going to be and I couldn't find the room. I'm going to check online and see if it was changed or I wrote the room number down wrong. Worse case senario, I picked a class that was at Fullerton and I have to drop the class because I'd have to way to get there. But there'd be nothing bad with that, persay, because I hadn't bought the book, nor has it arrived from the person who said they would ship it to me. edit I just looked on the schedule and I have the right class listed, but no idea where that room is. In the building, the numbers go 101-113 or something like that, then 124, 125, and 126. Umm where is 123?! I'm going to go again in a bit and search again. If I can't find it, I'm going to have to ask someone...and look like a loser or something. haha

But anyways, I'm here in the computer lab and who should I see...Josh! Crazy little world that I would see him here. haha I was surprised with how he greeted me...since it's been almost a month since I last saw him. We aren't taking any of the same classes, which I guess is a relief? I don't know yet. But we know each other is on campus and we know what classes we're each taking - just not days and times.

and with my new hair do people don't recognize me right away. They give me this weird, "do I know you?" look and then when it registers, they're like "Oh hi!" lol I love that reaction!

Hmm...can't think of anything else so I guess this is the end. Toodles!

this lack of home computer thing really sucks

So it's going on 4 days without a working home computer and it sucks. My dad thinks he's found the reason it won't completely boot - the memory. If it is the memory, then he tells me that's a simple fix, but if it's not and it (hard drive) crashed (*knocks on wood that isn't the case* ) he said it could be really expensive to retrieve the data from the hard drive so I will have lost everything. Bummer!

I hope it is just the memory and nothing worse.

I get Netflix tonight! I'm so happy! Two more Doctor Who Season 2 discs and Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean 3. I think first I'll watch Pirates 2 and give it to my parents, then tomorrow watch Pirates 3 and give that to them, leaving the Doctor Who discs for the weekend and if all is planned right, come next Tuesday or Wednesday (Thursday at the latest) I'll have more discs waiting for me.

This is day 4 of school, and day 2 of my Intermediate Algebra class. We have like 2 or 3 weeks to do a chapter's worth of homework and the exam is on Jan 30th. I have like 4 of the 7 or 8 sections done. This weekend I plan on doing more of them. Also, in between all my math, I have to read for my PoliSci class. Chapter 1 by tomorrow and Chapter 2 by next Tuesday.

I can't believe we're already going to have a holiday - next Monday - Martin Luther King, Jr Day. I can sleep in and watch Maury and all kinds of other TV shows.

I better get back to clearning out my e-mail. I've been here in the lab for nearly 40 minutes and still have 26 e-mails to go through in the next 15 minutes as my class is at noon! Eeps!

Monday, January 14, 2008

Here I am at the beginning

Done with classes for the day. Ventured to the bookstore to buy my math book (since we have something like 30 questions due by Jan 30). Of course, they're all out of used copies of the book so I had to buy it new. That bitch was $134.25! (used would have been $100.70) It comes with this CD for added studying/practice - which does me no good with a computer at home that doesn't work.

Yes, I am highly annoyed by that.

Tomorrow it's up before the sun rises in order to get to campus before 9 am. I'm going to see if my dad can set the coffee timer so I can have coffee when I wake up as well as take some with me to keep me awake in the morning.

I hope by some miracle my dad's figured out what's wrong with the computer and has got it working. If he has, then the first time I'm going to do is kiss it upload all graphics and pictures to photobucket and save all my documents to e-mail or an extra flash drive...maybe burn some more backup CDs like I did when the HD got all full a few months ago.

I'm going to eat lunch and head home. It's hella hot and I'd much rather be at home (or at the library by my apartment) than a 2-3 hour bus ride from home.

Until next time...don't let the fandom(s) explode without telling me!

Bad news...

well more like really crappy news...

last night my computer froze and then upon attempting to restart it I got this HORRIBLE message saying that my HD couldn't be found or something like that.

What a totally bad time for this to happen! Luckily this semester I don't have a class (to my knowledge) where I have to do a lot of word processing, so that shouldn't be a problem, but all my music (literally thousands of mp3s) and graphics and pictures I had yet to save to photobucket could be lost! That's what I'm most worried about. For weeks my mom had been pushing me to get the pictures uploaded to photobucket and I kept telling her I'd do it...but never did it...then this happens. UGH! If I don't get my graphics back, that's okay. I can hunt around online for them and get them again. If I don't get the music back, that's not okay, but it's easy enough to rebuild that collection, but the pics...I can't get those back. Almost all of them haven't been printed and nearly half of them still need to be uploaded to PB (maybe I'll get a second or third HD just for music and pics).

Sadly, this time I can't blame my dad for the computer messing up. I was the last one using the computer and had to force it to shut down, so this is my bad. :(

It's 4:05 a.m. on a Saturday morning...why am I up?!

I don't know why I'm up. At 4:30 (I guess) yesterday afternoon I took some Theraflu warming relief nighttime severe cold syrup and was alseep by 5:30? I don't rememeber. Then I woke up around 12:30 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep. I took the last of some other cold medicine and waited to see if that would put me back to sleep. By 1 a.m., I was hungry (for the first time in a few days) so I ate cereal (after searching for crackers which is what I really wanted), flipped through the channels on tv, tried to watch my recording of Law & Order, played a game on my cell and watched more tv.

Now it's 4 a.m. and my dad is on my back about being awake. According to him, I slept all day and that's why I'm awake now. First, I wasn't alseep all day. I was at work from 10 am to 2 pm then when I got home, I took cold medicine because I was all stuffed up. All we had was the night time stuff, so of course that's going to knock me out. I got 7 hours of sleep and woke up - I couldn't breathe and it burned everytime I inhaled through my nose...still does, even though it's plugged.

So I'm going to take this time while I'm awake to work on a paper that's needed at my church for Sunday and see if by the time I finish it, I'll be tired again...or able to breath enough to attempt to sleep. So glad I don't have to go to the church today...err Saturday, that's today. I'm not going in on Sunday unless I'm really able to breathe.

I was/am hoping that I'll be well enough for school on Monday. So far I don't know.

What works really well on stuffed up noses? That's the only thing effecting my health.

medicine is supposed to make you feel better, right?

This madness all started last Friday when I told Kris I had a feeling I was going to get sick. My throat was hurting and I wasn't wearing warm enough clothes to be sitting outside in the cold rainy weather. And on top of it, while I was waiting for the bus to come home, several cars and trucks splashed water on me. After a while, I gave up on where I stood because I was going to get wet no matter what. The good thing I did though was as soon as I got home, I took off all the wet clothes and put warm ones on and I drank tea and theraflu.

Saturday morning, my throat was still sore, but there was no other sickness symptoms. I still drank tea and theraflu. By Saturday afternoon/evening I was beginning to feel a bit rundown and tired. Getting more sick. Sunday I was a little better, though I now sounded hoarse. I couldn't skip church like I wanted because I still had a lot of work to do that I wasn't able to finish Saturday.

Monday I continued to drink threaflu in hopes that I'd only have a sore throat and that with time it would go away. Tuesday night my nose was completely stuffed up, so I took something for that (to help me breath at night) and when I woke up Wednesday, what do you know, I had a runny nose...my brain didn't turn the faucet off and it was dripping all damn day. I took a day time alka seltzer around 1 pm and around 10 pm I drank another theraflu.

I don't know what time it was when I woke up, but it was early. I could only breathe out of one side of my nose and I had the chills and my body ached. Hello cold that could be the flu! Just what I need when I start school in 4 days! NOT!!

My plans to go to the DMV are shot, someone has to be here all day (or at least when the kids get here after school) because I'm probably going to be knocked out in bed (if I'm lucky). Why couldn't I have gotten sick at the end of last year? Why now just as I'm starting school...and interviewing for a new job?!

I'm going back to bed. someone text me if the fandom(s) emplode or explode.

Now is when I really start to think

A few weeks ago (Dec 18 if I remember correctly) I sent my resume to Pinnacel Travel Service (in Downtown LA of all place!) and it was only after doing that that I saw they had a location that was much closer. Well I also applied to the closer one, but the one in Downtown LA is the one who called me this morning for an interview.

Of course, their interviews would have to be next week. The lady I spoke with said they had morning and afternoon interview times. I picked Thursday afternoon. 3:30 p.m.is what they had available. The only way to get from The OC (where my classes are) to Downtown LA by 3 p.m. (that gives me time to find my way to the office and everything is to leave at 12:50 p.m. My class doesn't let out until 1:50 pm though.

Now I have to call them back and ask for something on Friday and in the morning. I have this bad feeling that by calling back to change the interview date is going to cast a somewhat negative light on me...and do I tell them why I need to change that date, as I think that would already cause them to look at me differently (even though I would gladly drop my classes if I was offered a position with them).

I need to call them back before too much more time passes (and I completely loose the nerve to call them).

Are things finally looking up?!

I have extra pocket $$ coming my way and as soon as it comes I can get my nails fixed!

I'll have $$ to purchase a few of my books on Monday. One school book is being sent FREE!

I got new tops from Mere and I think my mom is going to buy me some pants from Torrid! They're having a HUGE (okay, not really, but a lot of their pants were heavily discounted) sale.

I know there was something else I was happy about, but I can't remember. That's okay. Yay for extra $$ though. Now if only this sore throat would go away!

P.S. I LOVE my new Angels t-shirt. I can now wear my Angels baseball cap with a matching shirt.
.

can we save this for another day? I'm sick

Virgo
Now is the best time for you to make a move toward something more romantic. If you're already seeing someone, use your good energy to woo them all over again. If not, head out and meet someone!

I wish horoscopes would give some suggestions as to where I should head out and meet someone! and how this person would look and what we would be doing...just tell me everything and then I'll see if it's worth it. lol

So last night I had this dream about J and he pulled the same crap he did last time - ask my opinion about something, get my opinion and then use the advice I gave him on someone else. Very flipping annoying! See...irl he asked me about this girl, and me not being any wiser (he asked me while I was looking over some papers) I told him what I knew about her (which wasn't much) and then he WENT AND ASKED HER OUT! She rejected said no to him and then he came to sulk to me...and I guess it was right after that when he started being all klingy. Well in my dream, it was still speech class but it was a full semester class and at the end of the class, he did the same thing, and again, I still didn't see it (and by it I mean why he was asking for my opinion), but it didn't take me long to figure out why. I don't know what became of him asking this other girl out (who was a different girl in my dream than the one he asked irl) because I moved on.

and funny that when I moved on it my dream I was at this beach with my brother, sil and the twin and it was my birthday (my 25th b-day was before school/speech class) and this giant whale came up to the shore and started "showing off". Of course I was frantic searching for a camera and by the time it dawned on me that I had a CAMERA PHONE the whale was swimming away. It was very odd. lol

and then I moved on to the next dream and I was at church hiding from some kind of attack with this guy I couldn't stand, but while we were hiding, I started flirting with him and then I started liking him.

although I think the first and third parts of all my dreams happened closer together and the whale part happened last. I don't remember the order of them, I just remember the images of the dreams.

I'm thinking I want to have oatmeal for breakfast...ohh and toast! I haven't had oatmeal and toast in a long time. maybe with some brown sugar...nevermind. no more brown sugar.

*is stuck*

My resolution goal for the new year was to write (hand write that is) more letters to people and last year (back in November) I got a couple of addresses to send letters to soliders...only I don't know how to start or what to say.

Guidlines were given as to what to talk about in the letters, but I'm stuck with how to start. This is very annoying. I want to get the letters out by next weekend or I'll never get them out.

Well, I'm off to search for something to eat for dinner and watch more of Matrix Reloaded before Cops comes starts.

My paid account with LJ expired today. I'm down to like 5 icons (at GJ I have 10 and that sucks too).

I think in February I'll buy a year account again. That's the next time I'll have extra money.

I paid my cell phone bill and on the 13th-ish I'll know what the new bill is going to be that due Feb 3rd.

Fun times. The bills never end.

I'm going to go watch The Matrix...maybe play a card game with Jasmine.

Note to self...I HAVE TO buy those books for Marlin and Jasmine. I'm tired of hearing them complain about not like what I have here to read.

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

I wanted to not whine but...

The website I was told about to get free text books...well I think it might be a bust. I know I only had the account for like a week, but still. It's annoying not being able to get my books that I need...

And I don't want to always have to turn to the church for help.

But books are going to cost $316.80 (NOT including tax).

I found them cheaper online (though not by much and shipping will jack the cost up again), but I'd have to order them THIS WEEK (meaning between tomorrow and Saturday) in order for them to arrive BY Jan 14, which is when I start classes (Algebra is the first class of the week and I'm stoopid for being excited about that because I HATE math).

I'd totally buy used (even though I have this thing about books missing pages), but NONE of the books (to my knowledge) are being offered used because they're all new editions and I don't want to be behind or have to do extra work because I have the wrong book.

You see the spot I'm in...

Someone be kind and by something from my etsy shop. My mom has made more things, but I haven't photographed and put them up yet. And I'm very well aware that the pictures are crappy, but the things I'm selling aren't!

And umm..yup. The end.

Now is as good a time as any for that update

Umm I don't remember where I left off, so I'll start with New Year's Eve and the Party with Jen.

The party was fun. Not very many people were there, there was alcohol (mmm alcohol), games (Wii, darts, ping pong, pool), and of course champagne toast at midnight.

Jen and I played on the Wii, and I fell in love with it! We shared 1 person bowling, then switched to 2 person playing and did tennis (I lost) golf (we both sucked at that), and bowling (I won!! I think I bowled a 162 or 166). Then we went downstairs to play pool (we played like 3 or 4 times and I lost) and by then it was time for the toast for the New Year. I don't like champagne at all. I'll stick to my wine cooler, apple puckers and strawberry wine thankyouverymuch.

When we left it was like 1210 or 1215. I don't remember what time it was when I got home, but I went promptly to bed. I didn't wake up until 8 or 9 am, got on the computer and then went back to bed (but not to sleep). Lora called about 10 am and said that Staci would be over to pick me up to go to Nana & Tata's for Menudo. Staci (and Pablo *grumbles*) didn't get to me until almost 1 pm! I was soooo hungry waiting for them that I made myself a sandwich. We get over to the G'parents, football is on (Michigan & Florida), Lora and I head to the store and when we get back it's the 2nd quarter (I think) of the USC-Illinois game.

I ended up falling alseep and woke up a couple of times during it. But they won and that made me happy. After that we watched Sister Act and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit and then Lora and I left. It was 1030-ish when I got home. my dad was leaving to get my mom from work. I think it was maybe midnight when I went to sleep.

And that brings us to today.

I went to the bank, library and came home. I'll have to go to the mall to return my book and look for other books and pay my T-Mobile bill (which is due 12/3) later today or tomorrow (probably tomorrow). Also have to go to the office and work on the newsletter and bulletins for Sunday. Meh! So much to do today and I've been slacking insteading of hunkering down and doing what I have to do.

Friday I'm meeting Kris at the airport and taking her to the hotel she's saying at and then we're going to some record store event (it's free and I'm down for free things).

I was right about my history grade

but whatever. there's nothing I can do about it. I have to concentrate on my classes for the next semester.

I'm so behind schedule. I was supposed to leave at 8:30 to go to the bank to cash my paycheck, then my bank to deposit $$, then to T-Mobile to pay my cell bill, then to the library to burn the CD for my mom (seriously, I haven't done it yet!) and finally to the mall to return For One More Day since I can get it on Amazon for $12.02 or something like that.

And tomorrow I have to go into work since Friday I won't be going on.

Meh! I have 7 more weekdays of vacation before school starts on Jan 14.

Oh that update about NYE and NYD will have to come at another time. I'm in no mood to actually think about everything that went on.

Silly horoscope...

I'm just going to my grandparents for Menudo.

You've got enough going on right now without worrying about impulsive behavior. Try not to let yourself buy anything or do anything unplanned -- you might just regret it tomorrow or the next day.

I'm not going to do any spending (I have like $3 to my name!), or anything impulsive...unless giving out my number to random guys is considered impulsive behavior. haha

Better update about the last few days...tomorrow?
